Mohamad Jahja, Director of Technical Implementation Unit (Unit Pelaksana Teknis (UPT)) International Cooperation and Services (Kerjasama dan Layanan Internasional (KSLI)) of UNG, said that apart from its leaves and stems, sorghum may be utilized to feed livestock as well.

“Many of us do not know how to manage these sorghum plants, therefore sorghum processing and by-products training provided by the collaboration between UNG and the Research Institute for Humanity Nature (RIHN) through this social program implementation study of Co-creation of Sustainable Regional Innovation for Reducing Poverty problems in Gorontalo Province (SRIREP),” he explained.

Furthermore, he invites the local communities and students, as well as teams from the Agricultural Technology Research Center (Badan Pengkajian Teknologi Pertanian (BPTP)), and Gorontalo Province Research and Development, to later be able to see the proper management of the sorghum process.

“We can develop sorghum plants and by-products along with all stakeholders of KSLI of UNG, UNG researchers, Gorontalo Province Government, Ehime Prefecture Government, RIHN researchers, and interested farmers and Gorontalo people,” he added.

He made a point of saying that this activity is also a form of implementation of the Extraordinary and Innovative UNG, which is the flagship program of UNG’s Chancellor, Eduart Wolok. (Rls/Adv/Ryn).
