The 2nd Medical Workshop on “Health Assessment for Elemental Mercury Exposure by ASGM Activity and Epidemiological Study of ASGM Areas” was conducted as an online Zoom Webinar on July 17, 2022 (Sunday), from 9 am to 12 pm (Gorontalo Standard Time) / 10 am to 1 pm (Tokyo Standard Time).
dr.Budianto Kaharu, Head of the Medical Doctor Association of Gorontalo delivered the Opening Speech prior to Dr. Win Thiri Kyaw, Ph.D., Medical Researcher, Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN), Japan’s lecture presentation “Health Assessment for Elemental Mercury Exposure by ASGM Activity “, and Dr. Shigeru Takaoka, Director of Kyoritsu, Neurology and Rehabilitation Clinic, Japan’s lecture presentation “Environmental Epidemiological Studies”.
At this workshop, Dr. Win Thiri Kyaw, Ph.D., Medical Researcher, Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN), Japan, and Dr. Sri Manovita Pateda, M, Kes., Ph.D., Lecturer, Faculty of the Medicine State University of Gorontalo, Indonesia will act as moderators as well as translators for Japanese to English and Indonesian to English respectively for the audiences.
A total of 174 participants including 6 panelists attended the workshop. Most attendees were medical students and doctors from Gorontalo and other cities in Indonesia and actively participated in the discussions.
This workshop was organized by 1) the SRIREP Project, 2) Mercury Free Society Network (MFSN), 3) Faculty of Medicine, State University of Gorontalo, Indonesia, and 4) Medical Doctor Association, Indonesia.
